Comfort Food Cravings: Homemade Cracker Barrel Potato Casserole
Cracker Barrel’s potato casserole is a beloved classic, and this copycat recipe comes incredibly close to the real thing. I think I’ve cracked the code to recreating that creamy texture and savory flavor so that you can enjoy a taste of Cracker Barrel at home. This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves comfort food and wants a simple, delicious dish.
I always order the potato casserole when I go to Cracker Barrel and I have made different kinds of potato casserole over the years trying to find the perfect copycat, but this one comes the closest so I could not wait to share with you!
It helps that it is so easy and comes together quickly too. I think I was trying to use fresh potatoes for all these years but frozen hashbrowns did the trick to making these even better. I never would’ve guessed that.
Don’t judge this recipe by how ugly these pictures are! I snapped them in real-time as I was making dinner so I could share. You just have to trust me that this is delicious!
Ingredients
- Frozen Shredded Hash Browns
- Chopped onion fresh or frozen
- 8oz sour cream
- 1c of butter
- 1 bag of cheddar cheese (I used hickory smokehouse blend and it was awesome)
- 1 can of cream of chicken soup
- Sliced cheddar cheese (I also used the smokehouse cheddar as well, it’s my favorite)
- Salt and pepper to taste
