Yesterday my sisters and I got together for our annual Cookie Candy Day and as always we had a blast. This year Gigi was older and it was so fun to include her and let her make her own batch of cookies! My Aunt Patty came too and Joyce, Nancy’s mother-in-law and Lori our friend. It was so wonderful!
We baked all day long and my heart was as full as my stomach at the end of the night!

Super easy chocolate chip cookie bars recipe
Ingredients
1 cup butter (Do Not Substitute)
1/2 Cup of Sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 14oz can (1 1/4 cups sweetened condensed milk ( I like Eagle brand)
1 cup (1/2 of a 12-ounce bag) semi-sweet Ghiradehlli chocolate chip
1/2 chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Here’s how
Preheat oven to 350*F. For the crust, beat butter in a large mixing bowl with a mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar and salt, beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in the flour at low speed until combined. Press two-thirds of the crust mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
For the filling, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips in a medium saucepan. Stir over low heat until chocolate chips melt and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread hot mixture over the crust. Add the remaining crust mixture to the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes or until golden. Let cool in the pan. To ensure even squares, cool the layered bars thoroughly before cutting so they have time to set up. Cut into squares.
