Creating a Cozy Christmas: A Hygge Home Tour
What is hygge and why do I want it for Christmas? Great question. Hygge is a quality of coziness that makes a person or people feel content and comfortable.
In my book, that is something to strive for. I am not fully there yet, but I am working on it every day. I have been living in a major kitchen remodel for five months now, and I am so ready to live in some cozy peace and quiet for a while!
Welcome to my Hygge Home Tour, my name is Amy Sadler and I am so glad you’re here! I am sharing my home and tips, but I have some amazing and talented friends who are sharing their homes as well and I have them linked at the bottom of this post for you!

Hygge Color Palettes
Nature-inspired colors are what you typically think of when you think about hygge and it’s Scandinavian roots, but it boils down to what you love and making your home your own. I have had Christmas Decorations Using Brown and I did love it but I added more the reds the following year and this year is my year of blue and white with touches of red and of course the natural greens. So whatever brings you happy thoughts and memories, do that!

Simple Hygge Decorating Tips
- Candles
- Lots of candles on the tables and on the mantle and everywhere!
- Bows

Textures and Patterns
Even if your house is all white from top to bottom, you can make it interesting with textures and patterns, but color is my favorite! I love to add texture with paint techniques and fabrics! This is How to Make Textured Christmas Ornaments High-End Dupes that I have pictured here.

I melted wax onto these candles for a fun textured ornament too,

Cozy Homemade Hot Chocolate
There is nothing more hygge in the winter than homemade hot chocolate in a cozy mug. I make The Best Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix and it’s so good to sit in my reading chair and chill on a chilly day!
