Luxury Handmade Wax Seal for Valentines Day
Making a handmade wax seal is so simple and makes a beautiful statement on your Valentine’s Day note, and today on the blog I will show you how easy it is to make them!
Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and friendship, and what better way to show your friends how much you care than by writing them a heartfelt sweet note? A personal note can make a big impact and show that you are thinking of them on this special occasion.
Now, to make your note even more special, add a heart-shaped wax seal. The result is a beautiful and unique seal that adds a touch of elegance and personalization to your note.
Your friends will appreciate the thought and effort that you put into the note, and the heart-shaped wax seal will make it a keepsake that they will treasure.

How to Make Handmade Heart-Shaped Wax Seals
Making wax seals with wax and clear hot glue
- Wooden Wax Seal Steps
I used these adorable wooden hearts from Hobby Lobby in the Valentine’s Day Section.
- Melt the wax
Light the wick and give the wax a few seconds to start to melt, then tilt the lit flame directly over the wooden heart and drip the gold wax onto the surface until you have almost covered the heart, but not entirely. The amount you see here is perfect.
- Place the wax seal stamp
Place the wax seal stamp down on the hot wax immediately and lightly press. Let it sit on the wax for about 2 minutes until the wax has cooled.
- Remove Stamp
The wax seal stamp should easily separate from the wooden heart leaving the beautiful design in the golden wax!
- To make these beautiful paper heart wax seals I had a different method but love how they turned out as well!
- Choose a variety of patterned paper and premade hearts.
I love patterned cardstock and I had no trouble finding this adorable rose pattern that was perfect for this project. As I was shopping though, I saw these precut red hearts with gold trim and wanted to try them as well!
- Heart punch
Use the heart punch from Hobby Lobby to punch as many hearts as you need from your patterned cardstock.
- Drip Hot Glue
I learned a lesson the hard way. Don’t use a high temp hot glue gun for this project. The hotter the hot glue, the cloudier your stamp will be and I almost ruined my wax seal stamp with the hotter hot glue as it would not release. I had to use an iron to get it off.
With a LOW TEMP glue gun and clear stik glue sticks, drip enough on to almost cover the entire heart but not quite. - Place the wax seal stamp
Place the wax seal stamp down on the hot wax immediately and lightly press. Let it sit on the wax for about 2 minutes until the wax has cooled.
- Remove Stamp
The wax seal stamp should easily separate from the paper heart leaving the beautiful design in the clear glue!
- Add Gold Detail
Use a gold paint pen to add gold highlights to the design and highlight it!
Ignore the green paint in and on my fingernails, please! LOL

I think the best part of this is that we each had a topic of “paper hearts” and look at how different they all are!
It’s so much fun to see how everyone took the assignment! I can’t wait to see what they each do next month!
The theme for March is “color”!!!!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use any Hot Glue for making Seals?
Definitely no. You really need to use a low temp glue gun. Clear glue will dry cloudy if it gets super hot.
Also, hotter glue doesn’t release from the wax seal stamp. Ask me how I learned this. The hard way!
Is Wax or Hot Glue Better For Wax Seals
You can see both here. I think it is a preference or a matter of what you have on hand as they are both beautiful!
