How to Create an Organic DIY Concrete Bowl
Can we talk about how adorable this DIY concrete bowl is that I made? It’s adorable and fairly easy to make yourself. I love to incorporate concrete in my décor. Whether it is a bowl, tabletop, or even a countertop (which I am seriously considering for my guest bath), I love how organic it feels!
Check out how to make your own stunning concrete bowl!
DIY Concrete bowl
Supplies
- Quickcrete Concrete Mix Quick setting (It was really smooth and cured hard and had the perfect sheen so I highly recommend trying it out!)
- Water
- Container for mixing
- Bowls that nest
- Paper Towels
- Vegetable oil or Pam
- Heavy item like a brick or paint can for weight
how to create your own
- Gather bowls of similar shapes and sizes.
You’ll want to make sure that they will nest with each other, because we are going to sandwich the concrete mix between the two bowls. I got mine from the Dollar Tree and Walmart, but I always look at my favorite thrift shops for inexpensive bowls too just to have for crafting.
- Creating the Bowl Shape
Place your nesting bowl on the top and press down to skooch (technical term) up the concrete evenly to create the bowl shape and place a heavy object inside your nesting bowl to hold it in place as your concrete sets. Leaving a little room at the top of your bowl for the final product this will make it easier to press it out of the bowl when cured.
- Now… Wait!
Wait hours. I waited 24 just to be safe! Turn over your bowl and press the bottom and mine popped right out so I hope yours does too!
- Voila! Beautiful DIY Concrete Bowl.
