How to make leather napkin rings
Supplies
- Brown leather that you can cut with scissors or your Cricut machine
- Two inch wooden hearts
- Cute Napkins – Here are the ones I used
- Mod Podge
- White paint
- Hot Glue Gun
How to make diy leather napkin rings
- Cut Leather into Strips
Cut leather into 7 and 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch strips. A Cricut Maker will cut leather but scissors work well with this soft leather as well.
- Hot Glue Ends of Leather
Hot glue the leather strips end to end. Method 1: Pinching ends together.
- Hot Glue Leather End (alternative)
I did it two ways and I love both. Method 2: overlap in a circle
- Creating Embellishments
Optional, but highly recommended. This is the part that brings them to life!
HOW TO CREATE DIY NAPKIN RING EMBELLISHMENTS
- Paint Wooden Hearts
Paint 2 inch wooden hearts with white paint.
- Add Mod Podge
Generously coat one side of the wooden heart with Mod Podge.
- Separate + Prep Napkin
Separate your Napkin ply’s and lay out the single layer of napkin face down on the work surface.
- Adding Mod Podge Heart to Napkin
Lay your wooden heart, mod podge side down, on your chosen spot on the napkin.
- Let it Dry
Let dry naturally or do what I do and blow dry it.
- Cleaning Up the Edges
Tear the napkin away from the sides and sand the excess off with a sanding block.
- Repeat
Repeat on the other side.
- Add Top Coat with Mod Podge
Cover the top of the napkin with mod podge.
- Add to Leather Ring
Glue to your leather napkin ring.
- Voila!
That’s it. Tuck a cloth napkin in your new napkin ring. Add them to any tablescape!
These turned out so good! So simple! Yet, they bring so much to any tablescape.
